Q: Would you recommend any short term goals? Often times people set unrealistic short term goals.... what should they be focusing on?
A: I am all about setting attainable goals whether they are short or long term. One of the main reasons so many people fall short of hitting their goals is because they are unrealistic in the time frame they set them in. Most of the time goals require creating new, or resetting existing habits. And we all know a lot of times that doesn't happen overnight. Your short term goals are the foundation of your long term goals.
Daily changes in your routine and mindset drive short term goals. Start small. Create a short list of daily and weekly goals. They don't have to be over the top either. For example, if your goal is to lose 15 pounds, set a short term goal of losing 2 pounds in the first week. That can be accomplished by little changes in your diet and physical activity. Your mind is a powerful muscle. Build confidence and momentum early. This is done through short term "attainable" goals. As you reach these milestones you can reset the short terms to be a little more aggressive.
