There is always a lot of discussion about pre-workout meals and what portions are necessary to reach peak performance. Here are some of my thoughts on eating before a workout...
I think it's really important to make sure you have some food/nutrition in your system before you workout. It doesn't have to be a full meal either. As long as you have the right portion of protein (40%), carbs (35%) and fat (25%) is all that matters.
I would suggest real food over a bar or protein shake, but if that's all you have access to then that's ok. Make sure to eat the meal about an hour before your workout too. This gives your body enough time to process the food and stabilize your blood sugar levels to help burn fat and build your energy systems.
Get that meal in before your next workout and see how it works for your regimen. Chances are, it will have a positive impact.
