1. Who is Alex Isaly?
I’m Alex “Iron Man” Isaly, a master trainer, national fitness program developer, nutrition consultant, elite athlete, international fitness presenter, businessman, husband and father of two, and one of the most visible and respected fitness professionals in the world. I’m the creator of the R.I.P.P.E.D. total body group fitness program, and now the Lead Trainer of the KettleWorX international home workout video series.
2. How did you get your start in fitness?
I’ve been in to fitness my entire life. It was in 1999 when I realized that it was my passion after I competed in my first triathlon. I fell in love with the sport and competed for the next 5 years at a high level, usually finishing in the top 10% of my age group. In 2003 I competed in the ultimate endurance race - Lake Placid, NY, IRONMAN. From here I transitioned into competitive cycling and raced at a semi-professional level. In 2010, I completed the HooDoo 500 mile endurance cycling race in just under 42 hours. During my time as a competitive cyclist I became an indoor cycling instructor. I then stepped away from my corporate job at the ripe young age of 37, with a wife and young daughter to feed, and became a professional nutrition and exercise consultant, trained people full time, and created the internationally popular group fitness class, R.I.P.P.E.D. – The One Stop Body Shock. I’m now promoting KettleWorX around the world as their new lead trainer.
3. Are you still involved with R.I.P.P.E.D. Training?
R.I.P.P.E.D. was an amazing program that I created in 2008. The entire education program was developed by myself and fitness legend, Linda Shelton. In addition, I worked closely with my good friend and New York Times Best Selling Author, Mark Macdonald, in designing the “D” (aka, Diet) for the program. To this day, the same information is being used in the instructor trainings.
The R.I.P.P.E.D. fitness formula focused on varied fitness components which naturally led to my position as the Lead Trainer for KettleWorX. I plan to use the experience, knowledge and relationships to design and lead the most advanced home fitness training program ever. The KettleWorX program requires my full time attention right now to make it the best full body home (and fitness facility) workout in the world.
4. Why did you leave R.I.P.P.E.D.?
R.I.P.P.E.D. was an amazing experience in which I created, developed, and lead a hugely popular group fitness course from its inception to now being taught all across the United States. I still follow the body shock principles that it was developed on to keep my body and my client’s bodies from plateauing.
R.I.P.P.E.D. has a limited audience, however, because not everyone has the time and money to join a group fitness class. My goal now is to take my fitness philosophy and results to all segments of the population. I want everyone in the world to be able to use my knowledge and expertise to change their bodies and their lives. I don’t want price, location, or physical ability, or anything else to get in the way of results.
5. How is kettlebell training different from other popular consumer fitness programs?
Kettlebells are one of the best fitness tools available for all fitness levels. They allow you to build strength, speed, and endurance all at once, and their unique shape allows for more functional movements that are not possible with traditional weights. Their special center of gravity allows everyone from beginners to advanced trainers to use them safely and effectively, and they not only give you great strength and endurance, but their full body movements help you tone your core and burn way more fat than traditional weights.
6. What if I have already done P90X or INSANITY? Will I get anything out of your kettlebell workout?
If you haven’t added kettlebells to your workout routine yet, then get with the program. These unique weights will give you a one of a kind workout that can’t be replicated by any other system. No matter how in shape you are currently, working out with kettlebells is going to increase your strength, speed, endurance, core, and fat burning metabolism. There is no better way to start than with a KettleWorX home fitness system.
7. How important is physical fitness? Why is it your passion?
Imagine if you had to drive the same car for 100 years, and if it broke down, got in an accident, or if anything at all happened to it, you could NEVER get a new one. How well would you take care of that car?
A lot of people like to drive a new car every couple of years, just like a lot of people try a new diet every year. They try a little bit of this one, and a little bit of that one, but there is no commitment. They don’t feel like they HAVE to make it work. But in reality you only get one machine, and you better take great care of it. You have one body for the next 100 years and you have no choice but to make it work as well as it can for you, or you will wish you had. Trust me, I’ve been there.
Fitness changed my life and it has changed the lives of countless of my friends and clients. It has given me a way to improve my own life and health, while helping others at the same time. Your level of health and fitness is the foundation for everything else that you do - work, family, relationships, attitude. One positive change in your body can change everything else in your life. It did for me.
